The
Arnold Schwarzenegger Martial Arts World Games
In 1991, after performing at Donald Trumps’ Taj Mahal in Atlantic City
Rob was invited by Mr Jim Lorimer (Arnold Schwarzenegger’s business
partner), to perform at the annual Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Fitness
Weekend, in Columbus, Ohio. After his first year of experiencing the
Arnold weekend Rob recognized a great opportunity for both the martial
arts world and The Arnold Schwarzenegger Fitness weekend. Rob approached
Jim Lorimer to open the weekend up more to the Martial Arts in the form of
entertainment, a display of talent, seminars and competitions. At that
time martial artists were all trying to break more into the mainstream, to
let more of the general public see the benefits of martial arts - the
tremendous athleticism, skill and superior fitness level that martial
artists posses. What better way to launch such as display of martial arts
talent and competition than through the greatest fitness weekend in the
world.
After
repeat performances the following years and persistence to bring in more
Martial Artists to the weekend Mr Lorimer agreed. He looked to Rob and
Doug Grant to take charge to bring in some of the most recognized martial
artists in the world, as well as the most respectable martial arts
organizations to sanction the competition. In 1994, the unification began.
The weekend pulled in martial artists from all different styles and
disciplines from all over the world. Rob and Doug have spearheaded what
was once known as The Arnold Martial Arts Festival to become one of the
greatest weekends in Martial Arts “The Arnold Schwarzenegger Martial
Arts World Games”.
